Certified English–Arabic Translator (20 Yrs)
I am Marwa Ismail, a senior English–Arabic translator, proofreader, and translation mentor based in Alexandria, Egypt. Over the past twenty years I have built a career around one belief: a translation is only as strong as the understanding behind it. My background in law, my postgraduate studies in the arts, and my continuous training in localization and digital tools allow me to handle texts that are technical, creative, and culturally sensitive with equal confidence.

My path began in 2004 at Meligi Law Office, where I spent five and a half years translating contracts, court papers, memoranda of association, articles of association, visas, and corporate documents — work that grounded me in the precision legal language demands. From 2010 to 2012, I joined Arabize, the Arab world’s leading localization company, where I worked across CAT platforms including SDL Trados, MemoQ, MemSource (now Phrase), Passolo, XTM, Wordfast, and LocStudio.
Between 2013 and 2017, I served as Senior Translator and Team Leader at Seal Translation Co., supervising junior translators and handling complex documents such as statements of claim, court experts’ reports, financial statements, press articles, and feasibility studies. From 2020 to 2022 I served as a part-time Translation Mentor and Proofreader at SACT Co., training 22 trainees and developing structured learning materials. Most recently, I worked as Senior Translator at Evolve Business Services W.L.L. (2023–2024), where I expanded into marketing and audiovisual translation while maintaining a perfect deadline record.
I hold a Bachelor of Science in Law from Ain Shams University (2004) and a Post-Bachelor Diploma from the Higher Institute of Arts Criticism, Academy of Arts, Egypt (2024, GPA 81.54 — Very Good), with a focus on cinema, theater, and music. This dual foundation in law and the arts is unusual in the translation field and gives my work both legal exactness and creative texture.
I have volunteered as a translator for Short Movies Magazine (2019–2021), worked as a Logistics Specialist with Kelma Group (2015–2017), and served as Administrative Assistant at Agora for Culture and Arts (2013–2015). These experiences sharpened my coordination skills and gave me a broader cultural lens that informs every translation I deliver.
